Getting your Amateur Radio LicenseEducation and TrainingThe first license class that you can attain is called the “Technician” class and allows you to operate on the VHF/UHF bands, as well as a portion of the 10 meter band where you can try long distant communications with voice and various digital modes. The next class is called the “General” class followed by the “Extra” and each of these licenses allow you to operate in even more of the available Amateur Radio Bands.There are several ways to study for these licenses. One is by obtaining by self study using one of several manuals that are available. The second method is through a formal training session. MARC provides training sessions for the Technician level exam at our Club facilities. Please see our schedule on this website, or contact us for more information.Taking your ExamMARC administers Amateur Radio exams at our Club Facilities on a regular basis. We have multiple members that are ARRL VE (Volunteer Examiner) accredited that allows us to administer these exams locally.
